Gender Equality
Gender Equality Problem 1: Women still face discrimination in the political sphere despite legislation designed to increase their membership in the national government. While parties abides in the legislation, many women candidates were included at the bottom of the party lists, reducing their likelihood of winning seats on regional and municipal councils The Gender Inequality Index score is 0.415. Peru’s Global Gender Gap Index rating for 2011 is 0.6796, placing it in 73rd place out of a total of 135 countries.
Solution: For this solution i think we can look at this in the US perspective to solve it. Even in the US we have some problems with gender equality yet we have progressed to the point of almost being there. What we can do is send some representatives of the US and talk to Peru about progressing and having more women in legislation. Give them examples of how we have progressed with women in our government and that it is beneficial and not a set back. We can try to start adding women one by one slowly putting women in and allowing the government to see how beneficial it is.
Gender Equality problem 2: The status of Peruvian women within the family is well protected.
In Peruvian families, parental authority is shared by the mother and father, who have equal rights and obligations; however, in nearly 25 percent of marriages, the father alone manages important household expenses
Solution: so far most homes are starting to have equal parentage authority between the mother and father. I think the solution that needs to happen for this is what it looks like is that most of what is happening is that there is traditional views going on here where the father works while the mother stays at home and takes care of the home and the father is the patriarch of the home. What needs to happen is we need to enable a Celestial perspective where there is supposed to be and equal stance between parents all though each parent have different parts to a family they still have an equal place of running the family. It is important to educate and show incoming families that families work out best when parents work together. Maybe in church or members of the church can go out and make sure that is a teaching that they include for families like preparation for marriage. They can even do so outside of church and offer seminars for some people to come.
