ENVIRONMENTAL Sustainability and Global Partnerhsip
Environmental Sustainability:
Peru’s Environment Minister hopes to virtually eliminate deforestation using international aid in addition to Peru’s own resources. Peru’s Prime Minister has vowed to not allow environmental pollution, and the government demands environmental impact assessment for mining operation
Cause: While much of Peru’s rain forests are conserved, there is a high level of both legal and illegal deforestation due to illegal squatting, road expansion, mining, and petroleum drilling
Solution: Through the traditional perspective we don't need to cause this much destruction in Peru. We need to learn how to grow and hunt. It is nice yes to have all these things but we need to bring back the idea that having a lot of land still is very beneficial to ourselves and our family. We can survive off of the food we grow and hunt. We can travel easily on foot or with animals as well. I think with this solution it is needed to be taught to children that keeping some traditions, and not causing deforestation and pollution can be simple if we just walk to our destinations unless we really do need to drive, that we can grow our food and since we have more resources in this world we can have clean good food.
Global Partnership: Peru remains one of the world’s top producers of illegal coca and cocaine, and social conflicts over natural resources pose serious challenges. Continued poverty reduction will remain critical to achieving socially inclusive and environmentally responsible growth.
Cause: More than a quarter of the population continues to live in poverty, and because of this people are finding ways to gain more money let it be through illegal trade.

Solution: Through the U.S. Perspective we see that one of the main drives of this problem is the lack of money. Because there are still some people living in poverty we need to come up with a plan that will help them out of it. We believe that one of the ways is we can go to the country of Peru and create places where the people living in poverty can stay and have soup kitchens like we do. We could also have classes and teach people how to better manage money and how to manage the land that they have. We can teach them the different ways to live and gain money so that we wont lead to the problem of having to sale illegal drugs.
